Photographs show select Nationalist units wearing the Turkish steel helmet, which was an adaptation of the German M16 with the front brim cut back, and a few also show Nationalist troops parading in the original German M16. Neither type seems to have been worn to any great extent in the front line, as they had never been supplied to the Ottoman Army in significant numbers.
