Chelmsford’s solution was to order a thorough sweep through the hills. That night, he gave orders that some 1,600 of the NNC and most of the mounted men should be ready to march out at dawn on the 21st. Their objectives were to scour through the Malakatha and Hlazakazi range; the NNC were to march due south, beyond the spur of Malakatha, and turn east through the valleys beyond.
